Lightweight unwinding tube for carpet production

Prince Fibre received a request from one of Europe’s largest carpet manufacturers. An innovative lightweight carbon tube was the solution to replacing a heavy aluminum tube. Thanks to Prince Fibre’s experience in the machinery business, it was no problem for us to recommend this carbon tube.

After being introduced to Prince Fibre, the idea arose to make the customer’s work a lot lighter. Employees always had to do heavy work with a tube to unwind cloth for the purpose of carpet production from a machine. The tube of traditional material not only proved too heavy for employees. The deflection was another disadvantage to the machine itself.

Due to the deflection of the previous tube, the failure rate on the carpet line was too high. By replacing this tube with a powerful, lightweight carbon tube, the fabric lies tighter on the machine and the chance of b-quality carpet is significantly reduced. The dropout rate came down significantly.

Together with its customer, Prince Fibre again focused on finding an appropriate solution to the problem. The demand (a strong, lightweight tube made of carbon to unwind cloth from the machine) translated into a six-meter-long tube weighing only seven kilograms. The tube flexes less than the aluminum tube previously in use. This allows employees to do their jobs more efficiently and quickly. The tube can carry a 400-pound mother roll of cloth with ease.
