Flexible seat post for road bikes

Collaboratively developing solutions for customers has been in Prince Fibre’s DNA since the beginning. Development institute Fraunhofer-ICT put the question to us to jointly develop a seat post for sports bikes. Fraunhofer is a leading European research organization in the field of healthcare, safety and environmental applications.

Started as an ice hockey stick
Developments with Fraunhofer have been ongoing for years. A carbon hockey stick has already been successfully developed once. These rectangular profiles proved so strong that they could also be used to reinforce aircraft panels.

Development
The carbon profile has a different shape. It is characterized by its oval shape with an almost flat side. These two flat sides are inserted into the frame towards each other. Currently, the ideas for a new design are in place. The goal is to further increase stiffness, further improving static bending.
