When it comes to carbon and fibreglass, thoughts do not immediately turn to a whole façade, but it is possible. This application is a good example of the innovative projects we enjoy working on.
THINNEST IN THE WORLD
GLASS-COMPOSITE FAÇADE
The ideas for the façade originally came from the Composites Laboratory of INHolland University. A special aspect of the façade is that the main supporting structure is virtually invisible. The glass-composite façade is completely level on both sides thanks to our composite tubes that are placed in the cavity of the insulation windows. The glass panels are only 54 millimetres thick, which makes the INHolland façade the slimmest glass-composite façade in the world.

ITS TIME
WELL AHEAD OF
A glass cavity with composite cables. This solution was well ahead of its time 10 years ago. The load-bearing effect is designed in such a way that the vertical cables in the glass of the cavity behave like a sail. This means that the façade can move back and forth by up to 30 centimetres under a horizontal wind load.
The cables inside the glass are made of aramid. The lining in the glass and the cavity slats are made of carbon. This is a very special solution for achieving an extremely slim façade.
