Download one of our fact sheets and learn more about our composite profiles.
The fibers in composites are inherently fire-resistant. In contrast, the resin used to fix the shape of the profile is flammable. However, it is possible to modify the composition of the resin to make the profiles fire-retardant.
To make the resin in the composite profile fire retardant, we add powders to the resin. This powder begins to release moisture at a temperature of 200 degrees Celsius, so it inhibits the fire.
To ensure that the profile is fire retardant and enough powder has been added, a specialist should first subject the profile to fire testing of the entire structure. This is always done by an outside party so as to have independent test reports as well. Once we are familiar with the correct composition of the resin with the powder, we can produce the profile repeatedly for the same application as a customer-specific solution.
