MEDICAL APPLICATIONS
Carbon and fiberglass profiles are increasingly used in the medical field. They offer a solution here where other materials are inapplicable or less applicable. Prince Fibre works with a number of institutions and supplies them with suitable profiles.
Invisible to X-rays
A special property that carbon has is that it is invisible to X-rays. A major advantage of this is that carbon can be applied in the healing of bone fractures.
When a metal tube is used to splint the bone, this metal remains visible on X-rays, making the bone poorly visible or not at all.
The application of carbon ensures that the bone then also remains clearly visible through the profile and that the fracture can be viewed all around. This makes it easier to monitor the progress of healing.
Application in the production of medical isotopes
Among other things, the treatment of cancer uses PET scans that make medical isotopes detectable. These medical isotopes consist of radioactive substances that make cancer cells visible during the PET scan. These isotopes are compounded in small nuclear power plants. No metals can be used in these nuclear power plants. This is why metal is often replaced here with fiberglass profiles for insulation.
Medical research
During medical research, composite offers further advantages. This is because certain metals can cause allergic reactions, and metal is always subject to corrosion. With carbon tubes, neither of these problems occur. In addition, carbon can be applied hygienically.
Carbon and fiberglass for a wide variety of applications
Carbon and fiberglass profiles can be used in a wide variety of industries. From construction to sports and from machines to the medical world. Do you now have an issue where our carbon or glass fiber profiles can offer a solution? Then contact Prince Fibre and together we will be happy to look at a way we can help you.
